John C. Maxwell’s book is a short read that breaks down the common traits all good leaders share. This book follows a simple formula that makes reading it easy and insightful. Each chapter focuses on a quality (if you couldn’t guess from the title). The format of the book breaks down as follows
- Each chapter starts with a quote
- A fleshing it out section
- A bringing it home section
- A daily take-away section
I made a simple web page that breaks down some of my favorite content from the book here.

Discernment – Can you see the root of the problem? If so, you can solve it. A leader who is in their area of expertise has a stronger sense of intuition. That intuition will give them the ability to see the root cause.
